Trained Medication Assistant Program

We offer a 56-hour trained medication assistant (TMA) course designed to train unlicensed personnel to administer medications in a variety of health care settings.  Participants will study the legal requirements concerning medications and their administration, general information about medication administration, medical terminologies related to medication administration and the use of reference sources.

Our course is designed to meet the Minnesota Board of Nursing curriculum standards for the training requirements for TMA.

We offer 2 sessions for the TMA course - Day classes, Evening classes. Choose the session that best fits your schedule.  All sessions include lectures and labs.

Prerequisites for TMA

-18 years of age

- Proof of completion of a 75 hour state approved Nursing Assistant Program

- Reading comprehension and fluency

- Mantoux (one-step prior to clinical)

- Background Study(prior to clinical)

 

 - For NA on the registry via challenge the following are required:

- A minimum of 3 months work experience as NA/R

- Letters of recommendations from employer. These forms  can be completed by a supervisor, RN or LPN

- Forms are within the registration packet. Completed forms must be mailed directly to Health Service Consultants Training Center (HSCTC.

 

Students must pass comprehensive written final with a score of 80% ( NO RETAKES) to advance to the final stage of program which is Laboratory Competency Test Out. Final grade in the class is a PASS or FAIL.
